Sunday, EP I (Philippians 2: 6-11)

Though in the form of God,
Christ Jesus did not cling
To equal state with God
Nor shrink from death’s sharp sting
But emptied self and as a slave
He took our human nature’s life,
Submitting to the cross’s strife.

Because of this, our God
has lifted him on high,
And given him the Name
Which o’er all names shall fly,
That at the Name of Jesus now
Each knee must bend—in heaven’s height,
Beneath the earth, and in earth’s light.

Let ev’ry tongue proclaim,
With glory in its sound
To God the Father’s fame,
This sentence so profound:
Let ev’ry soul its praise afford,
And sing the praise of God adored:
Proclaiming JESUS CHRIST IS LORD!
